Our chandelier repair service is for the pieces worth saving, from a crystal chandelier that’s been in the family for decades to a brass fitting that’s simply stopped working. Unlike most chandelier specialists, we’re NAPIT-registered electricians, so we can restore your chandelier and then fit it safely to your ceiling.
For example, small faults can often be fixed where the chandelier hangs. Bigger jobs, such as a full rewire or a crystal restoration, come back to our workshop, either collected by us or dropped off by you. Afterwards, everything goes back tested and ready to hang.

What our chandelier repair includes
From one dead arm to a full strip-down, this is the chandelier work we do most often.
Fault finding and repairs
For example, arms that won’t light, flicker or buzz. We find the cause, whether it’s a lampholder, a loose connection or worn flex.
Full rewiring
New cable through every arm, new lampholders and a proper earth, while keeping the original look. Fabric-covered flex is also available.
LED conversions
We fit LED-friendly lampholders and dimmers that suit LEDs. As a result, the chandelier runs cooler and cheaper, without flicker.
Cleaning and crystals
First, we take the chandelier down, then clean it, re-string the drops and replace missing or broken crystals.
Removal and re-hanging
Safe take-down and re-hanging, for example when you move house or redecorate, with the ceiling fixing checked first.
Bespoke chandeliers
We build chandeliers to suit your room in our workshop. In addition, we can shorten or lengthen the drop of an existing piece.
Chandelier repair by qualified electricians
A chandelier can weigh far more than it looks. Under the wiring regulations, BS 7671, every light fixing must hold at least 5 kg, and anything heavier needs a fixing that’s rated for its weight (Voltimum explains the rule). Therefore, before we re-hang a heavy chandelier, we check what it’s fixed to and fit a proper support into the joist if it needs one.
Because we’re electricians rather than just restorers, we can also sort out the circuit behind it, for example a dimmer that doesn’t suit LEDs or a missing earth.

Signs your chandelier needs attention
It’s worth getting it looked at if:
- Some arms don’t light, or the lights flicker or buzz
- The flex is cracked or brittle, or the fabric is fraying
- A lampholder is loose, scorched or discoloured
- It has a metal frame but no earth, because many older pieces were never earthed
- Crystals or drops are missing, broken or dull
- It hasn’t been used for years, or you’re moving it to a new home
If you can smell burning or see scorch marks, however, switch the light off and don’t use it until it’s been checked.

Can an old chandelier be rewired?
Yes, in most cases, because the frame and arms usually outlast the wiring. We run new cable through each arm, fit new lampholders and add an earth where the frame is metal, while keeping the original look.
How much does chandelier repair cost in London?

Do you need an electrician to fit a chandelier?
In England, replacing a light fitting isn’t notifiable building work. However, it still has to meet BS 7671, and a heavy chandelier needs a fixing rated for its weight, so it’s worth using a qualified electrician who checks the ceiling, the earth and the dimmer.
Can my chandelier be converted to LED?
Yes, for example by fitting LED-friendly lampholders and a dimmer that suits LEDs, so you avoid flicker and buzzing. In addition, LEDs run cooler, which is kinder to old wiring.
Can you repair a chandelier without taking it down?
Often, yes. Small faults such as a loose lampholder or a failed connection can usually be fixed where it hangs. On the other hand, a full rewire or restoration is done in our workshop.
Do you replace missing or broken crystals?
Yes, we clean chandeliers, re-string drops and replace missing or broken crystals, so the piece looks complete again.
