Video Doorbell Installation in London
Our video doorbell installation service swaps a tired old bell for a camera doorbell that shows you who's at the door from your phone, wherever you are. We wire it in properly, set up the app and make sure your recordings are saved at home, so there's no monthly fee to keep it working.
A lot of our customers come to us after their Ring or Nest doorbell started asking for a subscription. We usually recommend TP-Link Tapo, Eufy or UniFi instead. They record to a memory card or a small box in your home, and once they're paid for, they're yours.

What our video doorbell installation includes
Our video doorbell installation covers everything you need to have it working properly on day one, not just a doorbell screwed to the wall.
Doorbell and chime
We fit the doorbell at the right height to catch faces, not the tops of heads, and put the chime somewhere you'll actually hear it.
Proper wiring
Where we can, we wire it in with a suitable transformer, so you're not taking it down every few weeks to charge it.
Storage at home
We fit the memory card or base station and set it up so recordings stay in your house, not on someone else's server.
App and alerts
We set up the app on your phone and anyone else's in the house, then tune the motion zones so you're not pinged every time a car goes past.
Wi-Fi at the front door
We check the signal where the doorbell goes. If it's weak, we can add an access point or run a cable so it doesn't keep dropping out.
Old doorbell taken away
We remove the old bell and chime, fill the holes and leave everything tidy.
Why we steer people away from subscription doorbells
Ring and Google Nest doorbells are decent bits of kit, but a lot of what you'd expect from a camera sits behind a monthly plan. Without one, a Ring doorbell still gives you live view and alerts, but Ring says you don't get recorded video history. A Nest doorbell without a plan keeps only a few hours of event history, according to Google's own help page.
The doorbells we recommend record at home instead, to a microSD card, a Eufy HomeBase or a UniFi console. You pay for the hardware once and the footage stays with you. If you ever want cloud backup, it's there as an option rather than a requirement.
The video doorbells we usually fit
We'll talk you through the options when we quote for your video doorbell installation. These are the three we come back to most, and none of them needs a subscription to save your recordings.
TP-Link Tapo
Good value and easy to live with. Models like the Tapo D235 can run on battery or be wired in, record to a microSD card and come with a plug-in chime.
Eufy
Recordings are kept on a Eufy HomeBase inside your home, with no monthly fee. A good fit if you'd like Eufy cameras around the rest of the house too.
UniFi (Ubiquiti)
The most solid option. The PoE versions run off one network cable and record to a UniFi Protect console, which makes sense if you already have UniFi Wi-Fi.
Video doorbell installation for homes, flats and businesses
Most of our video doorbell installation work is in houses and flats, but we also fit them for landlords, shops and offices that want to see who's at the door before letting them in.
Signs your doorbell needs an upgrade
It's probably time if:
- Your old chime has stopped working, or only works when it feels like it
- Your battery doorbell needs charging every few weeks
- You keep missing deliveries when you're out or upstairs
- Your doorbell app now wants a monthly subscription
- You'd like to see who's there before you open the door
- You want to keep an eye on an older relative's front door
One thing worth knowing: if your camera can see beyond your own property, such as the street or a neighbour's path, the ICO's guidance on home CCTV applies. We angle the camera and set privacy zones to keep that to a minimum.

Video doorbell installation FAQs
Can I use a Ring or Nest doorbell without a subscription?
Yes, but you lose a lot. Without a plan, a Ring doorbell still shows live video and sends alerts, but it won't save recordings. A Nest doorbell only keeps a few hours of event history. If you want to look back at what happened yesterday, you either pay monthly or switch to a doorbell that records at home.
Which video doorbells don't need a subscription?
TP-Link Tapo, Eufy and UniFi are the ones we fit most. Tapo records to a microSD card, Eufy to a HomeBase and UniFi to a UniFi Protect console, so there's nothing to pay each month.
Can you use my old doorbell wiring?
Often, yes. Older bell transformers don't always give a video doorbell enough power, so we check what's there before we start and fit a new transformer if it's needed.
Is a wired or battery video doorbell better?
Wired, if you can have it. It never needs charging and tends to be more reliable. Battery doorbells are handy where there's no cable, but you'll be taking them down to charge every so often.
Do I need to tell my neighbours about a doorbell camera?
If the camera only sees your own property, data protection law doesn't usually apply. If it picks up the street or next door, the ICO says you should have a clear reason, only record what you need, put up a sign and delete footage regularly. We'll help you set it up that way during your video doorbell installation.
What if my Wi-Fi doesn't reach the front door?
It's a common problem, especially in older London houses with thick walls. We can fit an access point near the door, or use a UniFi doorbell that runs over a network cable instead of Wi-Fi.
