Fire Alarm Installation in London
A fire alarm only protects people if it is installed correctly, because poorly placed detectors or the wrong cable can stop it working. Therefore, our fire alarm installation service follows BS 5839 and BS 7671 on every job.
For example, we install interlinked smoke alarms in family homes, Grade A systems in HMOs and addressable systems in offices, shops and warehouses. In addition, every system is tested and certified before handover.

What our fire alarm installation includes
We install complete systems, whether we designed them or you already have a design. Also, we keep disruption to a minimum.
Detectors and sounders
First, we fit smoke, heat and multi-sensor detectors, together with sounders and beacons.
Control panels
Next, we install conventional or addressable panels, so every zone is clearly shown.
Manual call points
Then, we also fit call points on escape routes and, for example, at final exits.
Fire-resistant cabling
In addition, we use fire-resistant cable and metal fixings, because cables must stay up in a fire.
Domestic interlinked alarms
For homes, we also fit mains-powered, interlinked alarms with battery backup.
Testing and certificates
Finally, we test every device and issue an installation certificate.
Fire alarm installation to BS 5839
For non-domestic buildings, we install to BS 5839-1:2025. In particular, cables must be fire-resistant and supported by non-combustible fixings, so they do not collapse in a fire.
For homes, we install to BS 5839-6. Therefore, a typical house gets a Grade D1 or D2 system, while larger HMOs often need a Grade A system with a panel.
Which fire alarm installation do you need?
In short, the right system depends on the building. For example:
Homes and flats
For example, interlinked smoke and heat alarms, because every alarm sounds when one detects a fire.
HMOs and blocks
Also, Grade A panel systems for larger HMOs and communal areas.
Commercial systems
In addition, conventional or addressable systems for offices, shops and warehouses.
Who needs fire alarm installation?
For example, we carry out fire alarm installation for landlords, developers and business owners. In particular, we often work on HMO conversions and commercial fit-outs.
When do you need a new fire alarm?
In short, book a survey when:
- For instance, your fire risk assessment recommends a new system
- Your existing system is old or, for example, keeps false alarming
- You are converting a property into flats or, for example, an HMO
- You are renovating or, alternatively, extending or rewiring
- Your insurer or local authority has asked for improvements
Also, the GOV.UK guide to workplace fire safety and the London Fire Brigade guidance explain your duties.

Fire alarm installation FAQs
How long does a fire alarm installation take?
In short, it depends on the building. For example, a house often takes one day, while a commercial system can take longer.
Can you install a system designed by someone else?
Yes, because we install to the design and to BS 5839. However, we will point out anything that does not look right.
Do I need a mains-powered system in a rental?
In most rented homes and HMOs, yes, because the risk is higher. For example, BS 5839-6 usually calls for mains-powered, interlinked alarms.
Can you work outside business hours?
Yes, and in addition, we can work evenings or weekends to avoid disrupting your business.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes, because every fire alarm installation is tested and certified before handover.
Can you upgrade my old system?
Yes, for example, we can often reuse cable routes and replace an old panel and detectors.
